Shoreditch 1234 FestivalWeekender Records celebrated their first anniversary in September 2007, and what a first year it was. Initially started by Austrian based club owner Justin Barwick and London based band manager Grant Box the team was completed by Dymphna Terzoli, who expertly steered the ship through the initial year. The label took its name from the legendary Weekender Club in Innsbruck where many artists on the label were discovered. Our first year saw the release of an album by Dogs, a multitude of single releases including the likes of Eight Legs, The Lea Shores, The Runners, Look See Proof and The Indelicates, many of whom would go on to be album artistes. Appearances at festivals such as Reading/Leeds, V, Glastonbury, T In The Park, The Great Escape, Wireless and at venues as prestigious as The Royal Albert Hall meant the bands spread the word where they impressed the most, in the live arena. Also during the first year the label hosted its own stage at the hugely successful Shoreditch 1234 festival in London.

Now boasting a sister label based out of Berlin helmed by Desi Vach where releases include the likes of The Bishops and Chikinki as well as many artists also signed in the UK. The Weekender enterprise also boasts a touring arm in the form of Weekender Tour Assistance with Andy Qualtrough providing transport, tour management and backline hire. Gordon Keen heads up the licensing arm with strong work in Japan, the US and Europe and the London-based label is now run by James Amner with assistance from Andy Free and Lesley Oliveros. Weekender Publishing will commence trading too in 2008.
